Very sharp insights--Catch-22 was/is a revelation, as is Pynchon's V. Sometimes I indulge in mysteries that while expertly plotted, have nothing to say in the end. So much good lit out there, and two recent faves of mine are Ann PAtchett's The Dutch Hose and John Williams' Stoner. Thanks Matthew!
