“This is the great loss of youth.” It’s always a brave thing to remember, to name, and to make yourself face the great loss of youth. I’m thinking of mine — maybe I’ll write about it when it’s ready. But surely, I’ll write more about high school soon. You’ve got me re-thinking my teachers, who they were and what they did for me. I love your recall of details, because as you say, the better the image that you paint, the closer he is to being here. I saw him and heard him as you wrote. Truly a gift.
