100 years before I was born, Birmingham-Southern College was founded in the hills to the immediate southwest of Birmingham, relatively near both Miles College, a historically Black college, and Legion Field, where countless skirmishes between high school teams, college giants, and occasional concerts featuring Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, and 3 Dog Night…
