I wish I knew the first time I heard Del Shannon’s heartbreaking “Runaway.” It couldn’t have been the year it was released (1961) because I was four going on five and my musical world was limited to nursery rhymes, “Captain Kangaroo” folk songs like “Big Rock Candy Mountain” or “This Land is Your Land.” At least I think I heard…
