As we prepare to drive north to Virginia, I have my ears set to some new road music. So for this installment of Rate-A-Record, give a listen and tell me, please, how great, or not great you think these sounds are, especially for whatever road trip you might be on!

Remember, or at least remember Dick Clark, to score between 35–98, and dance if you will or must.

Song #1:

I tell you again that this is where I’m headed — a tall range of mountains deep in the Appalachian chain.

And once I get there, we’re up so high that I can see my shadow embrace all that I’ve left behind, and sure, it feels like nothing can touch us here, though it does, and so as I stare down from on this particular high, I also hear,
