I’m thinking long and hard about Nashville, for two reasons. First, the DARK:
It’s another morning in America where we have to realize that the people in power care more about the rights of gun profiteers than about the rest of us.
And now, the much much lighter:
Have you been watching Apple TV’s new series My Kind of Country? Set in Nashville, produced by Kacey Musgraves and Reese Witherspoon, the series stands “American Idol” on its head as three Country Music pros — Jimmie Allan, Mickey Guyton, and Orville Peck (whom my wife and I will be seeing in concert in a mere 2 weeks!!!) — span the globe for the next country music star. They bring these talented artists to Nashville’s Dark Horse studio and with expert assistance, let them work for a spot in a workshop with potential recording contract at the end of this rainbow.
Check it out and tell me that you don’t love South Africa’s Congo Cowboys!
So, with Nashville and Country Music and crossover country/pop stars in mind, let’s turn back to the year when I was in nearby Knoxville, deep in the heart of Ph.D work…
