I would like to write a piece on The Last Picture Show getting snubbed for Best Adapted screenplay. As a film, The French Connection is powerful, made more so, I think by Gene Hackman's acting. But shoot me now because I can't believe after all these years that TFC won for Best Adapted Screenplay over The Last Picture Show, a story that still moves me after all these decades.
