I started watching The Family last night. Cults are cults, and maybe those of us who would vote for any Dem over Trump are brainwashed too. I don’t think so, though, because as a student of history, I’ve read about the ways Authoritarian regimes came to power. I can distinguish between the Dem candidates and some I prefer over others. Why Repubs chose among some good people, the man they did last time and why so many want to lick his boots is beyond me.

This essay, though speaks to a real problem — our inability to parent, our need for someone to provide “the answer” as if questions, answers, and life itself are ever simple. Wishing for simplicity in this world gets you what we have now.
