I remember watching his variety show every week with my parents--I watched to see whichever rock act he'd have on--but something about Martin himself always got me, and maybe it's that nonchalance mentioned here, or maybe he was just my image/definition of martini cool. Made me want to go dining and dancing in a supper club--strange for a boy of 12.
