I actually prefer Tunnel of Love to this album, though I agree with your assessment. Just another testament to the mediocre taste of much of America--not that "Born in" is mediocre, but as you say, comparing it to the rest of Bruce's work, well, for me "No Surrender' is the only song on it that can touch "Backstreets" or well...Tunnel of Love the song.
